Event photography from the launch of the Ecoisland 100 club at the House of Commons on the 6th June 2013. On the day when the Prime Minister announced that “social investment can be a great force for social change” the Ecoisland Partnership Community Interest Company and its 100 Club supporters were gathered in the Terrace Room at the House of Commons demonstrating exactly how change can be brought about through investment in social enterprise and You can view the full gallery of photos from the day here.

Case Study 11. Secretary of State for Transport opens Island Roads’ new headquarters.
The Rt. Hon Patrick McLoughlin formally opened St Christophers House, the new ‘eco-friendly’ head quarters for Island Roads. This marked an exciting milestone for the company who will take on the responsibility for the Highway maintenance service from the Isle of Wight Council on the 1st April 2013. From this day, there will be a big investment in the Island’s infrastructure with work beginning to upgrade, enhance and maintain the Isle of Wight’s roads, footways, street lights, bridges and structures, cycle ways, public car parks, signage, CCTV and street furniture. The inaugural Ecoislands Global Summit took place at At the Cowes Yacht Haven, October 17th 2012. The event was designed to unite island and regional communities from around the world on a journey to achieving sustainability by 2030. WightPixels covered the whole day from the VIP arrivals, all the speeches and demonstrations right through to the after conference drinks. You can view a gallery of the event photos here.
The Languard Manor in Shanklin was the setting for a fantastic joint birthday party in October 2012, WightPixels were hired to catch all the fun on camera!

On the 14th July 2012 the Olympic Torch Relay visited the Isle of Wight and WightPixels covered the event at both ends of the Island. First as it made its way towards the Needles through Totland Bay and later at Osborne House (on behalf of English Heritage) just before it headed back to the mainland. On the 3rd of July 2012 The Duke of Gloucester visited Osborne House to officially open Queen Victoria’s private beach to the public for the first time. You can view a gallery of images from the Royal Visit here
154km of cycle racing around the Isle of Wight roads. Beginning with a mass start lead out from Yarmouth harbour front, leading into the 25km closed road Avant loop past the iconic Needles and through pretty Freshwater Bay before the coast road climb of Compton Down cranks up to separate the men from the boys.

Case Study 4. The Total Look – Isle of Wight College Hair Show 2012.
On the 6th March 2012, the Medina Theatre in Newport, Isle of Wight, was the venue for the Charity Fashion Event “Total Look – Isle of Wight College Hair Show 2012”.
Put together by the hairdressing team and students at the Isle of Wight College and raising funds to support the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (http://www.hiow-airambulance.org.uk/) it featured a spectacular display of hairstyles and fashions and WightPixels were on hand to capture some of the magic in photographs

From 25th June to 1st July 2011, the Isle of Wight played host to the NatWest Island Games, an international sporting event which involved thousands of talented athletes from 25 islands around the world, challenging themselves and each other in the quest for victory in 14 sports. The NatWest Island Games are held every two years on different host Islands and for many of the competitors. The Games will pave the way towards participation in the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics.
Hundreds of events took place across all sports during the week. A wonderful opportunity to experience first hand some of the world’s top athletes in action, and Wight Pixels were chosen as the official photographers by NatWest. With a brief to cover each and every sport, the medal ceremonies, all of the PR calls, tree plantings and both the opening and closing parades during an amazing week attended by VIP’s and Royal family and thousands of spectators.

Case Study 2. House-of-Commons Global Launch event for Ecoisland.
The EcoIsland Partnership’s official journey to make the Isle of Wight the first truly sustainable region in the UK by 2020 began on 15.11.11 at the House of Commons.
The project aims to harness a combination of wind, solar, tidal and geothermal renewable energy generation technologies connected to a smart grid to deliver the island’s residents and businesses a consistent source of green energy. The biggest and best example of the Government’s Big Society vision, EcoIsland is a true partnership between the Isle of Wight community and private business, making it not just a major UK sustainability project, but one of global significance.
Wight Pixels were there to document the whole day, from first light at Newport bus station on the Isle of Wight, travelling with the team up to London and throughout the champagne reception and speeches in the House of Commons. House of Commons Global Launch event for Ecoisland
